What's a Bizarro?
A: Bizarro is a genre of the weird and is basically literature's equivalent to the cult section at the video store. Bizarro was created by a group of small press publishers in response to the increasing demand for weird high quality fiction and the authors who specialize in the genre.
Some words describing Bizarro are surreal, avant-garde, humorous, bloody, erotic, out there, weird, strange, odd, fascinating, thought provoking, absurd, disgusting, and fun to read.
Despite being largely an underground group of outcasts they have gained a great amount of praise and respect of several well-known writers and publications. Not only this, but Bizarro writers have also been finalists for several awards such as the Philip K. Dick Award, the Bram Stoker Award, the Rhysling Award, and the Pushcart Prize.
